I Had to Go
Iranian Actress describes her Arbaeen experience

Nilofar is Esfandiar Shahidi’s daughter who is one of the major Iranian directors. Although she got into the art college, she later graduated as a master of computer science.

She started her career featuring in “Be Koja Chenin Shetaban” Tv series directed by Abolghasem Talebi. Her and other artists’ Arbaeen pilgrimage made for beautiful and meaningful scenes.

Her urban pilgrimage is really interesting as she was supposed to get married only ten days ago.

She tells her story. I got a call at 9.30 p.m. Would you come to Karbala? I said: why not! Of course, I was supposed to celebrate my wedding those days. Two weeks before that call. I thought it was an invite from the Hussian (SA). I couldn’t make up my mind at the time so asked for a little bit of time. I hung up the phone. I was emotional. I gave it some thought. It was a given. I had to go.

I made the call. I was going. Sent my passport. Three days later we were on our way. Everything was like a flash. I really can’t believe it right now. My family was worried about the disease and the travel problems, but I had to go. Some even tried to postpone my plans for the next year. These days the borders are not open and I feel lucky to have gone last year.
